South African Post Office; for how long can citizens and businesses endure SAPO's inability to provide a decent postal service?
I have used the SA Post Office for 48 years. They have degenerated and transformed into a ******* service, they used to be excellent and an asset to this country. There is no excuse for this change into a useless organisation, and I do not want to hear their lame excuses. SAPO is denying citizens the opportunity to conduct business which rely on an efficient postal service. They are part of the problem that has led to a low economical growth in SA. Their organisational values as displayed in post offices are nonsense, none of these are achieved. SAPO's motto, "We deliver, whatever it takes", should be changed to "We strike, whatever it takes, and deliver if we feel like it". I have met some individuals at the local post office who where trying hard, but their positive attitude and hard work were totally subverted by others. I have packages lying somewhere in the SAPO system that I should have received 5 months ago. One package I sent back after having been charged 63% on the value of the item. This is a tarif item that is duty free, so only VAT and a handling fee should be charged. This item was sent back for re-evaluation 3 months ago. If you cannot do the job of a post office, you are not a post office. A post office is a very important service in any country, it is part of the engine that makes the economy function. I predict that businesses and the average citizen will soon migrate away from SAPO, and SAPO will become defunct, unless a major rejuvenation takes place very soon. Currently it is not practical or sensible to use SAPO for postal functions.
