SAPO = Service Atrocious Positively Obnoxious

The SA Post Office is a complete disaster incapable of fulfilling its function.

Post used to be delivered to the complex where I live in Port Alfred daily. Then some time ago delivery was reduced to once a week. Now it is even more erratic and is sometimes delivered only once a fortnight. On 31 Aug, I received investment statements for both June and July and a IT3b tax invoice dated 1 March! Other statements hover somewhere in the postal twilight zone. However, what really gets my goat is a registered letter posted on 26 July by registered airmail to Perth, Australia has not yet been delivered. An e-mail enquiring about the letter, forward to what the Post Office laughing refers to as Customer Service on 16 Aug, has elicited neither an acknowledgement of receipt nor the courtesy of a reply.

Is it any wonder that more and more businesses are resorting to e-mail to send statements. If the Post Office were an animal it would be put out of its misery and I wish I could deliver the coup de grace. .
