SAPO implodes - time for the private sector to step up

So SAPO finally bites the dust and will be dismantled over the coming weeks. I guess I can kiss my 27 overseas airmail parcels (R10K of postage) that have been languishing in the system since 2 February this year goodbye. A SAPO spokesman says it will be business "as normal" but seeing as "normal" has come to mean total stasis that's hardly encouraging. The banks will no doubt scoop up all the PostBank clients but who will capture the market for outbound parcels and small packets? At current ******ionate overseas courier rates, nobody. But there's a golden opportunity going begging here and the first private sector operator with a VIABLE offering is going to score big time. DHL need not apply.
