SA Postal Service should be renamed the South African Bermuda Triangle Service!

<p>So here's how it goes with the South African Post Office or as I am increasingly thinking it should be called South African Bermuda Triangle Service... I can't tell you how many people I know have goods missing that they sent via South African Post!</p> <p> </p> <p>I sent a box of personal effects and gifts for my family and friends (which fall within the permissable R5000 personal allowance of purchases) back via Indian Post service.</p> <p> </p> <p>The goods went through the Indian Post office and after endless phonecalls and emails and tweets between the Indian Post Office and SA Post Office, I have been able to confirm that the goods definitely left Mumbai on the 5th of April... I even have the details of the mailbag!!!</p> <p> </p> <p>Apparently this means that it is sitting somewhere at Johannesburg International Customs Warehouse and most likely gathering dust...</p> <p> </p> <p>BUT the post office cannot confirm or deny this, until they open the box and so in the meantime it's untraceable...</p> <p> </p> <p>This is beyond pathetic, To give you an idea - Fedex ships approximately 3,2 million items (in 2004) every day [which is undoubtedly increased since this information was released] and the South African Post Office handles approximately 70,000 items daily (according to stats from 2015)...</p> <p> </p> <p>I want to know how it is that private enterprise manages to get this right and track your parcel throughout the process and keep you informed of your parcel's whereabouts and yet the state can't...</p> <p> </p> <p>It is just ludicrous and all they can tell you is oh sorry it could still be weeks... </p> <p> </p> <p>Why do we accept consistently mediocre service delivery from the state as simply the way things are in South Africa? Why is it that we've resigned ourselves to not holding them accountable to the same standards and practices as every other organization in South Africa and the world?!</p> <p> </p> <p>Post Net also operates in South Africa and handles thousands of international parcels and they do so speedily and efficiently for very little more than the SA Post Office.</p> <p> </p> <p>#stepitup #southafricanbermudatrianglepostalservice #fedup #governmentservicedelivery</p> <p> <br /> <br /> </p>
