SA Post Office Well-Deserved Poor Reputation

On 1 December 2020 I sent a Christmas card to friends in Europe. It was a special gift, a hand-painted card. I paid almost R60 for the so-called Registered Mail. My friends in Europe never received the card, and it turned out that I cannot even trace it, although there was a Track & Trace number. After months of arguing and inquiring about the card, in June this year the card was finally found - still in South Africa, apparently it never left the country! I demanded to have the card back and to be refunded. It took another few months, but at the end - after a whole year(!!) I got my card back! However, in order to get the refund, I was told that I have to submit the "white receipt". Obviously, this receipt was hardly readable. It was 366 days since it was printed, and the ink was barely visible! Still, I submitted the receipt, together with their so called “Certificate of Posting", on which it is clearly written: "Postage Paid", and the amount is there- with big numbers! No, this was not sufficient! As we all know, the Post Office would have never issued such a 'certificate' if the full amount has not been paid! Obviously, they were just looking for reasons not to reimburse me. For me, this is not about the money, it is about the principle. A good, ethical person has a lot of principles, and this goes to prove that the SA Post Office employees have NONE! No wonder the SA Post Office has such a poor reputation!
