Post offices

Time off from work means finally sorting out the issue of getting my car licence sorted out... With a spring in my step and all the joys of finally getting time off to sort this out I marched onto the nearest post office to buy the licence... As I walked into the post office I was grateful to see "a few" people ahead of me... As I joyfully joined the queue... And as I waited I could hear the conversations of some of the many people in the queues talking about the endless trips they made as well as all the time they took off to get this done.... As I turned to my left, lo and behold I see in front of me or more like to the side of me people sitting on desks, floors even some who brought their own little chairs as if they were on a camping trip in order to get their licence sorted..... Imagine my horror...the joys of public departments once again.... What baffles me moreso is the fact that the Management of such places know the wait and the queues that form in their institutions all with hope of getting their business sorted out and moving on.... Yet.... There is only ONE TELLER..... Yes one teller working to serve 50 people.... When will service delivery be off importance.... Does customer satisfaction not matter any longer or is it that employees are so complacent that their job is to only serve a quota and the rest can come another day.... Notwithstanding the fact that the so called "OTHERS" have had to take time off some even without getting paid just so that they get their vehicles licenced....as for compassion, courtesy, and a smile these unfortunately has been lost... Sadly... Nobody cares any longer its almost as if they are doing us a favor serving us never mind the fact that we too pay taxes and contribute to the coffers of the country.. So common human decency is all but a thing of the past now.... Unfortunately we are at their mercy and however much we complain nothing will ever get done unless we don't voice our disappointment and dissatisfaction with a united voice..... Where do we go from here.... Sadly nowhere but back to the Post office to "Camp"....
