Parcels sitting 1 month in SA Post Office sorting centre - Terrible SA Post Office....again
The SA Post Office (SAPO) has been sitting on a number of parcels that I have sent since January this year (2018) . From their tracking numbers it has can be seen that many of them sat in the Johannesburg International Mail Centre (JIMC) sorting centre of SAPO for at least 30 days on average, despite being sent via their Expedited Mail Services (EMS) option.
It is absolutely unacceptable that the parcels have taken this long and most have still not arrived at their destinations months after their sending date. This is in contravention of SAPO's terms of service.:
" Rest of world: 4 - 5 working days from Office of exchange (Johannesburg International Mail Centre)"
I quote this from the EMS South Africa website of SAPO and SAPO's Postal Rates 2017/2018 brochure.
They do not respond to most emails that I send, and I have lost a substantial amount of money due to customers demanding refunds from me for lack of delivery. I am compiling a folder of all these issues and will be submitting a complaint to ICASA and the Consumer Commission regarding SAPOs ongoing very poor service, particularly since the start of this year. I have been told by a SAPO employee that I should not use EMS as the delays are due to internal cost-cutting where parcels are kept until there are a number to send at the same time. This is not an acceptable level of service from a member of the Universal Postal Union, and SAPO is a blemish on our country. SAPO CEO Mark Barnes, you are a disgrace.
In addition, I am considering legal action against SAPO. Any one interested in joining a class action lawsuit against the SA Post Office?
Let us not put up with SAPO's poor service any longer! They are wasting our hard-earned taxpayers' money!
