No Privacy or confidentially for our personal details at Mall@Reds POST OFFICE

I went to Mall@Reds post office to renew my disk and my wife. When I filled my wife details on the number plate I mistakenly put DT instead of DG. With all the details that they have , her ID Number, proof of residence they couldn't pick that the names are different . When I notify them instead of fixing they gave me personal details of the other person to contact and ask for refund . Where is the privacy here if our details can just be given like that, they cannot fix because the mistake is on my side however they were willing to rectify if the mistake was on their side.

As we talking now , I have a disk of the other person, ID number, Address etc. Does that mean anyone can just go and renew disk of anyone ? why do they need an ID and proof of residence then?
