No News Received

I placed an order from the US, and their tracking system last showed my parcel to be at Jamaica NY on the 8th of January. Since then i have not heard a word from SAPO about my parcel only that i should check every week. I have no idea if my parcel has been through customs or if it is even there as no information can be provided to me. how long does it take for parcels to be accepted through customs surely it doesnt take a month for that to happen??????
