Matilda and Lerato - Bad Service at Bloemfontein Post Office
I wish the managers of the Post Office could somehow disguise themselves and go stand in the queues at their branches and observe the type of service us ordinary folks are exposed to. On 22 November 2019, I went to the post office branch in the Bloemfontein CBD. I was there before 08:00, so at 08:00 when they opened I was the second person in line to collect my parcel. There were two cashiers behind the counters. One named Matilda and one named Lerato. As I was standing in the queue, both of them had their windows closed, busy stamping and scanning packages. There was absolutely no rush in them to assist customers. On the contrary, they were busy chatting and one of them kept making eye contact with me, still with no sense of urgency to assist us, just staring at me right in my face while scanning her packages. When I eventually got called for assistance, the one that helped couldn't even talk to me. The only thing she asked was whether I'm sure the package has arrived in Bloemfontein already. She left to collect the package; returned and handed me a piece of paper. She gave me no instructions and expected me to know what I'm supposed to do with the piece of paper. I saw a line indicating Signature, so I signed there and handed her the paper back. Still not talking to me, she flipped the paper around towards me and just pointed at some spaces on the paper. At this point I completely lost it. From the time I entered the post office, they didn't talk to us customers. They rather chat with each other, taking their time to NOT assist us, and then when they eventually helped me, the lady doesn't talk to me. When I asked her to please talk to me and explain what she wanted from me, she became annoyed with me and very abruptly said "write your ID number here". This is not my first time complaining about the service at the post office. I have even received feedback from managers in the past, but still this horrible service persists; hence me saying I wish the post office managers could go down and see the type of service rendered to customers. If I could help it I would never go to the post office.
