Lost parcel in transit (for 2months)!

I recently ordered a special face cream from Portugal and registered the tracking number (rh ********** 84pt) with "Track My Parcel" so that I could be on top of its movement. According to "Track my parcel" this item arrived on South African s****s on the 7th July and then moved to Customs on the 10th July 2017, where it stayed put for a month!

After calling the number on SAPO's website (this after my umpteenth attempt), I finally got hold of someone who told me what was already registered on "Track my Parcel"- that it was in Customs. She also said that there was a backlog and that she couldn’t tell me exactly when it would leave Customs.

Eventually, on the 8th August, the status changed to "In transit" - for another two weeks! Today, on the 14th August the status has now changed to "WITSPOS (HUB)". I am very frustrated and confused because my delivery address would assume that this parcel should be delivered to the Northlands Post Office branch, where previous parcels have always been sent to me.

I previously gave up on the PO's competence and capability to achieve its core activity- delivers parcels! I resumed some hope after the new CEO had promised to transform it into efficient machine- adopting business models of those of the Australian and UK post offices!

It is really disappointing that SAPO holds us hostage to our own goods that we have already paid for: calls to the ONLY number available on their website are always unanswered due to "high call volumes".

Why can't SAPO do what it was designed to do - deliver! How can we gain assurance that they will have the ability to provide social grants effectively and efficiently (if they ever took over that process) if they can't even get the basics right!

#PostOfficeHasFallen :-(
