International Parcels through SA Post Office

Why OH why is it so difficult to track parcels through the SAPO from online vendors such as Wish, AliExpress etc? Why does it sometimes take months for parcels to come through customs (yes, I know it is SARS). Can't they implement a notification or similar service that notifies the recipients of the new tracking number etc?

Alternatively, is there another service that can be used instead of SAPO?
