Custom Duty Cash Only

Benmore branch only takes CASH for customs fee payable on parcel collection, which is suspicious to me when I paid with a debit card at Saxonwold and Norwood branches, staff on duty today was adamant this is the case with overseas parcels which I dispute having used a debit card previously at other branches. Is the cash going to SARS?
