Comedy of Errors

A supplier sent me an item by post from Cape Town to JHB.
They dropped the item at Muizenberg post office on the 4th of August, by the 7th of August the item was reported to at Witspos hub by the SAPO tracking system.
On the 30th of August I the item still hadn't arrived so I checked the tracking system and it still reported the item being at Witspos.
On the the 31st of August I called Sandrignham post office to check if it was there and they said it's still at Witspos. I subsequently informed my supplier that the item has not been delivered and I feared it lost. They proceeded to at their expense send another item and a pre-stamped return envelope in case the original item ever arrived.
On the 1st or 2nd of September a first notification arrived in my post box dated 7 August. That's within 5 days of the item being returned to sender.
So please answer how the 3 following failures occured:
1) The tracking system was never updated once the item left Witspos
2) The first notification took more than 3 weeks to be delivered.
3) The post office reported that an item was not there when it was.

Also I'd like you to reimburse the supplier for their extra postage expenses.
RC***ZA
