Worst Building Insurance -
For 6 years I was paying for something that they claim they do not cover. I bought a house 2017 and took out a building insurance with SA Homeloans. In 2023 my lapa burnt down and SA Homeloans sent out their assessor who came and tried to look for reasons not to pay the claim. Then they rejected the claim saying that the chimney on the lapa is a few cm shorter than the required height.
When i took the policy their assessor came and checked and confirmed everything was fine but when its time to pay they say the structure of the chimney was not properly done. I didn't do any renovations to the lapa i just maintained it and brushed it. This means that it was in it original i found it in. The assessor who came to check even climbed on the chimney and measure using a tape measure just to show that they are trying hard to find fault and not pay. THIS IS THE WORST BUIDLING INSURANCE AND I WOULD LIKE TO URGE PEOPLE NOT TO JOIN IT BECAUSE YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF IN THE STREETS WITHOUT A HOUSE AFTER YOU HAVE PAID FOR YEARS AND YEARS.
