They will find any excuse not to pay out

During the storm in 2016 our bathroom suffered serious damage in that all the tiles lifted and cracked when the building moved. They refused to pay out and blamed it on not having expansion joints in a small bathroom. Every tiler I have spoken to says that is ******* you don't need expansion joints when the tiles have grouting. It had been fine for 10 years and on the eve of the storm we had this problem but they claim it was not storm damage. A year later the barge boards and front gate got blown off in the wind, they claim that the gate was due to lack of maintenance and the barge boards they gave us a minimal amount that wouldn't cover the cost of the scaffolding to get to the barge boards. We pay a premium I have discovered - twice what other insurers charge, and yet have no cover. Not worth insuring with them.
