SAHL Insurance sucks thumbs
On Monday the 5th of September 2022, while my family and I were asleep we were awakened by a loud crash in the bathroom only to find the geyser had falling in that shock I had immediately ran to the DB Box and switched off power to the geyser and put on my robes and shoes to go outside and stop the main water supply, by then our room carpets had been soaked along side two beds but more on that later. At 08:00 on Tuesday the 6th of September I called SAHL insurance to log a claim ***, I was assured by the consultant that it would be processed and Jerro Enterprises would come out to do an assessment which they did. The matter was then handed to SAHL insurance again and I was advised that a loss adjuster (Naude Loss Adjuster) would have to come do a second assessment. Wednesday the 7th had come to pass and I had received a call from the loss adjuster who advised that he could only come out on Monday the 12th to do the assessment. After escalating to SAHL insurance on Wednesday and Thursday the loss adjuster had agreed to come out and do the assessment on Friday the 9th which he had done. On Monday the 12th I had called in to SAHL to find out if the assessment was completed and asked for an ETA as to when the geyser would be fixed and if it would be fixed, I was advised by the consultant Ryan that SAHL is still waiting for the assessment. Yesterday the 13th I received a mail from the loss adjuster with only a copy of the SAHL insurance policy. I had then called in to SAHL insurance again and spoke to Sue who advised that i should ignore that email and they are still waiting for the assessment from the loss adjuster. Here is my complaint. Its been a week and nothing has been done as of yet. I have two small children one is seven the other one is two we have no hot water for a week now. its dangerous to keep boiling water to set up baths for them as I have heard a lot of horror stories of kids been accidentally burned with hot water. If the claim is to be processed and the work done through SAHL insurance then why has it not already. If SAHL is not willing to get it done and the claim is denied why do they not tell me so I can get it sorted out and if they do not value me as a customer I can seek cover elsewhere as like I stated its over a week now without hot water. I understand we do not have contents cover which is the reason they will not cover the beds but the geyser and the carpets were part of the house upon purchasing. Also a part of pretext the house was purchased in May 2017 my family had only moved in in the middle of August 2017 as per request of the previous owners as the house is big and they had needed time to move. According to the claim consultant Saffraz the geyser was installed by myself which is untrue, I am an IT technician by trade and if I had plumbing experience I would have sorted out the geyser by myself. I have kept a calm demeanor throughout the conversations with each of the consultants and have lost my patience as this is now going on for too long and the only communication I receive is when I call SAHL insurance help desk . Please help me.
