SA Homeloans Insurance Nightmare

If you are reading this and are a new home owner or simply looking for insurance for your home and you also love your peace of mind, please whatever you do, DO NOT EVER consider SA Homeloans Insurance. Ever. In August 2022 I lodged a claim for my automatic gate (CL***), my first claim ever after 3 years of being with them. They sent over an agent to evaluate the extent to which the gate needed repairs. Two months went by and I hadn't received feedback on the claim so I reached out to find out, only to be told over the phone that the claim wasn't successful because the gate motor needed to be replaced and that motor repairs are not included in the cover. I expressed my disappointment in them not providing the feedback and asked for the results in writing, so they sent me an email with the documents after having to ask them to do so.

In December 2022 I lodged another claim (CL***) for a crack in my walls that appears to be causing my kitchen cupboards to collapse. They sent another agent to come evaluate the damage and he told me I would have feedback when they opened after 2 January 2023. It is now 3 weeks after they opened and I have still not heard anything. I will have to again be the one that reaches out to them to find out the outcome of my claim and I assume they'll have another excuse as to why they can't help me this time as well. South Africa please be ware of this SA Homeloans Insurance. They are a ***** and specialize in taking your money and then providing an endless list of baseless reasons as to why they can't help you with your money that you paid when the time comes for them to payout. I am so exhausted with them and already in the process of looking for another Home Insurance provider. Please reach out with suggestions of insurance providers that you have had better experiences with! And stay away from SA Homeloans.
