Kick someone when they are their lowest.
I have been going through a very very difficult time financially and have asked SA Homeloans to be accomodating and to try and reduce my installment. I have an outstanding bond of approx. 550k with a monthly repayment of 16k which is astronomical if you take it on a bond of 550k. I have asked them to assist me as I am in the process of selling the house which is taking a little bit longer than I had hoped for. It actually is in the process but there are delays from the Buyers side - which they are aware of. I have sent them my budgets, my actual disposable income but they point blank refuse. They harass me every day with endless calls. I just don't understand how you can kick someone when they are down and also know that the house is in a sale process and that they will get there money albeit it a bit later than we all want it. I also have a bond with Standard Bank and they very willingly assisted me with a lower monthly payment and were satisfied that I was paying monthly. This is so mercenary and calculated. Surely some sort of humanity could be shown. Especially on a bond of 550k to pay 16k per month.

SA HOMELOANS RESPONSE TO ME:In respect of your request, kindly note the following;
- In line with our email dated 10 December, and in view of the sale and cancellation in progress, the assistance afforded to you was that we will carry the existing arrears until the cancellation registers in the deeds office, whilst you focus on maintaining payment of the contractual installment.
- The installment is currently R15960.83.
- You have paid only R11,000.00 in respect of December. The installment as requested is therefore not being maintained.
- In addition, no payment in respect of January has been received as yet.
- At this point we request that you continue to pay R11,000.00 for January and again in February towards the installment. This is an exception. The balance of these installments will then add to the arrears unfortunately which impacts your payment profile with the credit bureaus.
- Payment in respect of January is required before the month ends, kindly make payment urgently.
- Considering the status of the account, please stay in touch with your attorneys as it is important to ensure the sale and cancellation proceeds with no delay, as if the matter does not finalise/ register in the deed’s office by end February, the full installment will need to be provided for as of March 2025.
