I thought they were better
In June my house got flooded after a coper pipe *****ing incident. My laminated flooring as well as built-in cabinets took extensive damage. The next day, the stench of the laminates got so bad that I had to remove them. Didnt contact insurance because didnt want the hassle with them making any excuse not to settle a claim and also because the damage was my own fault. I had a contractor start with tiling the front part of the house. It took my entire emergency funds. 3 weeks ago, cash strapped I called the sa homeloans insurance dept as a hail mary because I could not replace my bic's or my bathroom floor. The bathroom floor is elevated due to the water damage and the bic's is swelling and shelves are caving in. The assessor remarked that my cupboards and flooring is old, and i agree it is not new. But the water staining and black mold like stains behind the skirting is evident. Last week S A homeloans sent me a rejection letter claiming that my cupbaords and flooring damaged due to wear and tear and not the water damage as I was claiming. My cupboards are not older than 10 years and the counters are less than 3 years since installation. My bathroom floor even less than that. The wear and tear that would do such damage, happens over 30 years but it seems this is their default excuse to avoid their promise of peace of mind. The worst thing about this hoc policy with SA homeloans is that I cannot cancel it. And Im sure they will not pay out even if my house burnt down. I feel like i am held hostage by a bully and wish I had means to settle this entire bond. Its like an abusive relationship that wont let you leave.
