House Burned down - SA Homeloand Claim no ***

My house in Utrecht burnt down on the 07th of May possibly due to a candle (Load shedding)
We contacted SA Home loans and informed them of what happened.
Long story short...SA Home loans issued us with a scope of works with the total amounts not shown - Is this legal?

What was shocking was that we were informed that only the broken tiles will be replaced.
Where are you going to find tiles which match your existing ones? Is this why we pay year in and year out for insurance companies? Are you not supposed to be in the same position as the past?

The lady from Top carpets informed us that her quotation amount was R37300, the Assessor informed us that it was only R36000. How do we know that we are not taken for a ride in each and every trade?

Can we assess internally and compare? Are we allowed? What do we do to make sure that everything is being dealt with fairly?????

We regret that we had no other option and all other doors was closed. We had to give an answer as their is a time-frame involved and accepted the offer.

SA Home loans feedback shall be highly appreciated.

Regards
Gert Du Pisanie
