Building Insurance Claim

Hallo Peter

I want to stress the fact that my husband died on 14 Jan 2017. I was supposed to mourn his death but then this happens to me.

To my understanding the Insurer are supposed to put you in same position as you were before .

This will prove to be false and far from true.

Here is the full BAD story of an 70 year old 'new' widow of Centurion.

This matter is outstanding since 4 Feb 2017 - today is 8 March and the problem below is still outstanding ! !

1. On Saturday 4 Feb SA Home Loans was notified that my geyser was leaking.

2. Upon arrival of the people of Imbazo Trading Pty I was informed that they had to remove the geyser and put in on the roof (flat roof) because of some specifications of the supplier Kwikot).

3. I immediately strongly objected to this - but to no avail. My kitchen was revamped a few years ago (R80 000) New tiles and ceiling was installed. There will be an ugly gap, and I only have 6 tiles left). (The cost of the new kitchen will now be far more).

4. I was notified by SA Home Loans that they do not have any emergency Electricians for after hours. No one will be able to connect my geyser over the weekend. This is also not true.

5. Prince of Imbuzo informed me that SA Home Loans will fix the tiles and ceiling to the original status. So he proceed with the installation.

6. The geyser was installed on Saturday morning - I received an SMS to confirm my satisfaction of the installation.

7. I have made several phone calls complaining about the electricity not being connected to the geyser. (spoke to Bhavech from SA Home Loans).

8. I was also very upset because I have to pay R750 to each provide, They called it an Item - and I feel that it was only the geyser.

9. A hole was drilled into the roof to make access possible for the water and electricity. There was no hole in the roof beforehand.

10. Only on Monday night at 7pm the electrician fixed the electricity and at Tuesday morning the water was warm (please note since Saturday – until Monday night – no hot water). This is totally unacceptable.

11. On Monday Barry arrived to inspect the ceiling and informed me that the people from the tiling co must first fix the tiles, and thereafter he can come in and replace the ceiling. He also mention to me to please handle the people at SA Home Loans with care, if you comes over to strong, they will give instructions to the affect that no more work will be done at your house. This prove to be true.

13. I tried to discuss the matter with Bhavesh of SAHL, but HE WAS were very firm in his decision. (NO MORE WORK WILL BE DONE AT MY HOME).

15. At that stage I contacted someone to come out and take measurements for a cupboard to be fixed over the ugly tile and ceilings.

16. Later when somebody actually got on the roof it was found that the geyser was :

a. Put on a piece of wood (which will rotten in time).

b. No insulation of the pipes was done (winter is coming and Centurion is cold). These pipes will burst.

c. The pipe going inside the house was insulated with "masking tape".

Roof leaking:

1. On Friday 24 Feb I phoned (Bhavish), telling him that water is pouring through the hole in the roof.

2. I was informed that he will be sending somebody out to see to the problem.

3. On 27 Feb an lengthy e-mail was forwarded to Carien and Bhavech of SA Home Loans, with all the relevant information.

4. On 7 March I phoned to talk to Carien, but with here not available, had a conversation with Bhavech, why I still talk to him, I do not know.

5. Only after this call, he instructed an Independent Assessor to come for a site inspection. Tiaan Labuchagne came on 8 March 2017. His report will be ready soon.

What I want:

1. SA Home Loans to cover all cost fr the popper installation of my geyser. (frame, insulation of pipes and fixing of leaking roof)

2. The supply and installation of the cupboard (already delivered at my home).

3. SA Home Loans to bear the cost of all repairs to my house's roof and fixing the kitchen to it original state.

4. SA Home Loans do a apology to me and all the window's in future, for robbing me of peace of heart, knowing that your Insurer will look after your interest in the best way possible.

Regards

Emily Green
