I've purchased a house, moved in three months back then heavy rains poured in and around our area then noticed the house leaks called my insurance and they sent assessors. I had hope that this issue would be resolved but instead i was issued with a rejection letter that states my policy does not cover:
Damage caused directly or indirectly by: 425. defective workmanship, defective materials, defective design and/or defective installation whether in relation to the initial construction of the buildings or in relation to any subsequent alterations, additions or repairs to the buildings. For the purposes of this exclusion, “defective” shall include, but not be limited to, not in compliance with the National Building Regulations or the relevant SANS requirements. 43. Costs directly or indirectly associated with: 4.3.2. maintenance or reasonable measures that you should take to prevent loss or damage. 46. Water proofing or sealing of roofs or roofing structures. 4.11. Wear and tear, depreciation, damp, or other gradually operating causes. Accordingly we are unable to be of assistance and we respectfully request that remedial measures be taken to rectify the damage at your own expense and that documented proof of such be submitted to SAHL Insurance. Please note that should you not provide SAHL Insurance with documented proof that the damaged property has been repaired no future claims in respect of this damaged property will be considered.
