SA Garage Doors Cape Town, goed koop is duur koop...

Just sharing as it's the right thing to do and to make any future customers aware about the poor response we have got from this company. We had our garage doors installed late in 2015 on a newly built home as a security measure, and only started using them in September 2016. The 1st issues arose in April 2017 with pop rivets that had broken, which they attended to. The same issue arose about a year later and when confronted, they brought up their 1 year warranty(which by then had expired) and said there would be a R750 or so call out charge to sort the problem out, which we pointed out that it was a recurring issue and should still be covered....this was not the case and after a lengthy argument we ended up paying R500. Low and behold, the same issue arose the following year as well, bla bla bla, the same story. By now we were aware of how to sort it out ourselves, so to save time, money and more lame cop-outs, we sorted it out ourselves. This past weekend one of the springs snapped, and according to industry stadards, garage door springs should have a duty cycle of around 10k, ours lasted all of 2-3k....and after getting an independent garage door company to come out to asses we learned of all the short-cuts these guys take when quoting on new potential jobs. Inferior materials, too few stabiliser bars, extension springs that are too weak for the door, lack of adequate fixings etc etc etc. And after again being told that the products only carry a 1 year warranty I gave up. I understand warranties are in place to prevent abuse, but being a company owner and product supplier myself, this is just a cop out and a weak attempt to mask their use of inferior products, just saying, you have been warned...
