SAA Express delay causing serious delay and failure to make connecting flight home

I had booked a flight out of Lubumbashi for 23rd April 2018 at 12:30

Upon arriving at the airport I was notified the plane hadn't left Jhb yet and was only expected in Lubumbashi at 2pm.

After sitting at the airport till 11:00 am work came to that the plane would only land after 15:00 pm

Flight SA1797 only landed at 15:10 p.m and departed Lubumbashi at 16:00 p.m

I had originally booked a flight from JHB to my home town in EL on MN801 at 06:45 a.m on 24th April but was notified that I need to be in hospital for a operation at 06:00 a.m on the 24th April so I had booked a flight on SA1411 on 23rd April at 18:30 so I could get back home and get rest in time for my surgery.

Flight SA1797 was delayed by 4 and a half hours which resulted at me only landing at JHB airport at 18:20 and coming through customs at 18:45...

I therefore missed my flight home on SA1411 and had to reschedule my appointment for theatre.

Please can someone assist me as to how I go about being refunded for the flight SA1411 which I missed due to SAA being delayed.

The SAA website didn't even update any info about the flight delay. I was only notified because someone flying from JHB - Lubumbashi on 23rd April had told my husband once we arrived at the airport. SAA only communicated this information to the airport at 13:30 p.m
