Grimy Food Trays on SA Express Plane

I was appalled and disgusted to see the layers of grime on the drinks-holder of my food tray on SAA Express Flight SA1103 flying from Johannesburg to Kimberley yesterday morning (11 Dec). Clearly the trays haven’t been properly cleaned for a long time and if one considers the fact that airplanes hold a health risk even when properly maintained, this must be a disaster waiting to happen.

Does SAA really expect passengers to be ok with this? If this is their idea of good hygiene and proper maintenance in places we can see, what is lurking where we cannot see?
