BE CAREFUL OF S J GARDEN SERVICES

I cannot recommend this gardener who operates under the name of S J GARDEN SERVICES in Cape Town, based on my experience. From the outset, he was unreliable, failed to honour agreed arrangements, and communication was poor. I was repeatedly left wondering whether he would arrive as promised. He requested payment of more than half of the quoted amount upfront which I regrettably did. He only completed the front yard, despite initially advising that the entire job would be completed in one day. He brought another worker with him, left all the garden refuse in my front yard, and assured me it would be removed the following day and he simply never turned up. When I enquired about the delay, I was told that the person he used to dispose of the garden refuse had become lost despite being sent the pin location and had decided not to do any further work for him. I was then informed that the job was far more extensive than he had anticipated and that I would have to pay an additional amount for the removal of the garden refuse, even though this had already formed part of his original quotation. At the same time, he expected me to pay him for that portion of the quoted work. In other words, he expected me to pay three times as much for the removal of the garden refuse. Three weeks passed without any effort being made to remove the garden refuse, yet I continued receiving messages requesting additional payment. I declined because I did not believe it was fair to pay more for work that had already been quoted and not completed. The combination of poor communication, unreliability, and attempts to increase the agreed price after the work had commenced caused me to lose confidence in his service. Based on my experience, I would not use his services again or recommend him to others.
