Overcharged and taken advantage of

I’m really upset by the way things were handled after I queried for an extra day of labour that I paid for which never happened. They sent me a quote that stated 3 days of labour after coming to my house to evaluate the work that had to be done. I accepted the quote, I originally thought 3 days were a bit short as in the consultation I understood that there were lots of work to be done. They were supposed to start working on the Monday morning but they notified me that they aren’t finished with a project and will only be able to start on Tuesday, I told them then that I will be going away for the long weekend and will be leaving on the Thursday morning, they confirmed that it was not a problem as they will be done by Wednesday as they will be finished in 2 days. When they finished on the Wednesday, they had me sign the job card which state how satisfied I was with their service and work, we parted our ways as I knew I won’t have to contact them again as I was certain that the work is correct and won’t have any errors in the next 6 months while their work is under warranty. After the long weekend I had a look at the quote and realised that they never corrected the 3 days labour that they originally quoted, since they only worked 2 days. I contacted them, after many attempts of trying to contact them, they responded by saying that the third day of labour is when they come back to check if there is any problems with the work they have done. This was never mentioned to me and when we parted on the last day, there weren’t any mention of us every meeting again or that they will be coming back for a check. I paid for a full day of labour (R1650) for them to come look if they made a mistake with their work. How is that acceptable? They also “blame” me for them not having gotten to their third day yet because I left on the Thursday morning for the weekend. Long story short, I paid R1650 for something that didn’t happen and they are refusing to pay me back as their argument is that I didn’t query the quote when they sent it to me. They could have quoted that they will work for 3 days or for 14 days, I would have accepted either as I did not know how much work would need to be done. I am not a carpenter or a builder and have absolutely no knowledge of the business so I would assume the company knows what they are taking about and I trust their judgment. And how does R1650 justify that you only come check the work, absolutely NO LABOUR is involved in this so called third day of labour.

I feel taken advantage of and shocked that you feel that this is how business is handled. Even though your work was done correctly, your morals are not. I would not recommend people who do business like this.
