My boyfriend was booked on RwandAir from Johannesburg to London via Kigali, departing the afternoon of August 6th. What followed was a cascade of last-minute changes: August 5th: He was notified that his Kigali–London connection, originally a 3-hour layover, would now be an 11 hour 40 minute delay. August 6th (morning): He was told his Johannesburg–Kigali flight itself was pushed back entirely — no longer departing that afternoon, but now leaving at 3:00 AM on August 7th instead. August 7th, 2:30 AM: While waiting at the gate for that rescheduled flight, he received yet another notification — an additional 40-minute delay tacked onto the already 11 hour 40 minute layover in Kigali. Each change was announced barely a day (sometimes hours) before it took effect, leaving zero real opportunity to adjust plans. He'd already taken unpaid leave from work to make this trip, and instead spent it stuck waiting through a chain of delays that pushed his total travel time far beyond what he'd planned and paid for. If you're relying on RwandAir for a connection or have any time-sensitive plans on the other end, be prepared for schedule changes announced far too late to actually act on.
