Contradictory Diagnostic Reports
Title: Contradictory Diagnostic Reports – Refund Requested Review: I took my Ford Ranger to Rustenburg Gearbox Services at 2 Dwars Street, Rustenburg in February 2026 for a diagnostic inspection. I was provided with two completely different reports. The first report showed only electronic communication faults and included a valid odometer reading. When I queried the quotation, the workshop then sent me another report which was completely different. The second report, which the workshop later claimed was “correct,” listed extensive gearbox faults but did not even include an odometer reading — a basic detail normally captured in a proper diagnostic. This inconsistency is a clear indication that the reports are unreliable or manipulated. Despite this, I was issued a quotation of R86,825 for a gearbox replacement. When I requested a refund for the diagnostic fee, the workshop offered to redo the inspection months later instead of addressing the contradictory reports. I have lost confidence in the accuracy and integrity of their diagnostic process and will escalate the matter to the AA Ombudsman. Consumers should be cautious when dealing with this workshop. The owner has refused to refund me, which I find arrogant and unacceptable.
