THEY WANT YOU TO PAY FOR MY DEVICE THEY BROKE

Allow me to share my experience with a so called Rugged phone with you. This is a Blackview 6600 pro. The first thing that happened was it fell while I was standing next to my Bakkie.

It fell on the screen and the screen was in pieces. I was a little disappointed because I thought a rugged phone’s screen would be stronger, but I accepted that it fell quite hard.

I took the phone in to Rugged in Roodepoort and they replaced the screen which I paid for although it was still on warranty. They said that the warranty doesn’t cover the screen which makes sense.

There after the loud speaker stopped working, nothing happened to cause it to stop working, this was a few months later. I took it to Rugged and they replaced the loud speaker.

One of my neighbours also had the exact same phone the Blackview pro 6600, he was the reason why I bought this phone.

He also had a problem with his loud speaker and took it in to get replaced. This took more than a month and apparently someone said that the speakers had a defect and does not last be that as it may both of our speakers was fixed.

After this I was driving one day and my phone fell off the passenger seat of my car on the carpet, someone had cut in front of me and I had to step on the brakes quickly.

This time the phone had not fallen on the screen and nothing happened that could cause the screen to break, but the screen was broken.

This time I wasn’t happy.

The first time was my fault, but this time it was not my fault. A Rugged phone should be able to take a lot more than this. Nevertheless I had to pay for it again and this was another trip to Roodepoort from Vanderbijlpark where I stay.

Then approximately 6 months later the loud speaker was not working again, this was the loud speaker they replaced.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I WAS ABLE TO MAKE AND RECEIVE CALLS, I COULD HEAR EVERY WORD AND PEOPLE COULD HEAR ME. ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE LOUD SPEAKER IF I WANT TO LISTEN TO A VIDEO OF VOICE MESSAGE I HAD TO PUT THE PNONE AGAINST ME EAR.

I had to go back and ask them to replace it again, this was loud speaker number 3. Remember my neighbour said that someone admitted to this loud speakers being defective. They replaced it and sent me a Whatsapp that said the phone would be ready in 2 days I can arrange to pick it up.

Two days later in the late afternoon I stopped at Rugged and the phone wasn’t ready. There were a lot of excuses but still the phone wasn’t ready and they said that they will let us know.

I had to arrange with someone to pick it up.

I got the phone and started making calls. I really struggled to hear the person over the phone. I immediately sent an email to Rugged and said that this phone seems to have both the microphone and speaker not working, that’s what I thought.

The lady working there apologized and said to bring it in or they’ll pick it up and sort it out. I took it back.

A few weeks later when I stopped there to find out what was happening they said that they found out the phone is struggling and keeps dropping network. There is something else wrong with it like the mother board; in their words. My technical expertise left me in the dark.

I than told them that there’s nothing else wrong with the phone, it was only the speaker that gave me problems and needed to get replaced. THIS WAS NOT MY PROBLEM THE PHONE DID NOT DROPPED NETWORK BEFORE I TOOK IT IN.

A day later they sent me a quote for another R 1 500 that I need to pay for the mother board and I said I am not going pay this; the phone was in your possession when it broke. THEY REFUSE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY WHILE THE PHONE WAS WITH THEM AND ARE NOT WILLING TO FIX THE MOTHER BOARD WHICH BROKE WHILE THE PHONE WAS WITH THEM.

Long story short this is my second rugged phone from Blackview Company Rugged in Roodepoort it’s the first and the last I will never buy anything from them again.

They do not provide after service. The parts they replace do not last long. Their technical team break other things while the phone is with them and expect you to pay.

Be extremely aware of their brands.

Hi Piet,
Thank you for contacting Rugged SA about your device.

Unfortunately, this means it's no longer covered under our warranty, as outlined in our Warranty & Returns agreement which is readily available on our website for everyone's reference link to Warranty & Returns page: https://ruggedsa.co.za/faqs/warranty-and-returns/.

Our qualified technicians (with extensive tech knowledge) diagnosed your device with a PCBA fault. NO NO NO Rugged SA. It is not a question that I believe my device was broken in your store. it is a fact and I can prove it. My call logs will clearly show that I had no problems with network drops before I booked my device in for loadspeaker replacement. and these calls included LONG business calls without any network drops. the moment I got my phone back from you there was terrible network drops and I send you a mail to inform you that I cant hear the persons on the other side and they also cant hear me. Stop making excuses for your terrible service
