A little-known gem for craft *****s

In the east of Pretoria there is a haberdashery and crafts shop called Ruby's – and chances are that you will get whatever you need in this amazing shop. Although the shop is situated right next to Brooklyn Mall, it is easily overlooked as the entrance is on the main road and not directly accessible from the Mall.

During the months of the covid pandemic, when it was difficult to get supplies, you could depend on this shop. More recently, during the time of load-shedding, you could count on the assistance of Arshaad, part-owner and manager, and his team. I commend them for keeping their doors open for business, albeit not as usual, but with the aid of flashlights during the hours of load-shedding.

It helps a lot that the staff members, and especially Rose, are extremely knowledgeable and knows just about every item in every corner of this shop. Wool, ribbons, beads, trimmings, needles, party favours, felt, paper serviettes, s****booking items, buttons … too many items to mention. The shop is well-worth a visit for anyone who loves handcrafts.
