Uber cancelling rides for bigger trips

Monday 14 we ordered a uber in ballito it was cancelled by 2 people eventually 3rd on took it after waiting for sometime already ( because of the cancellations) my husband called him to check where he was because we had been cancelled and had our son and shopping in the heat. The trip wasnt getting closer in time so he called again and no answer and again no answer and again no answer. Eventually he took the call and told my husband to **** off.... **** off. .. **** off and told him to cancel the trip. We got another taxi after waiting about 45 mins for all of this to come to an end. I have the drivers details. We cancelled and weren't charged for it (of course). In the past my husband got an uber to take my son to school and the uber arrived and when my husband was in the car he said he will need the uber to take him back home so to please wait. When he got out the uber with my son the uber pulled away and said he got another call and my husband must call another uber. All the Uber's were so far away he just walked which is a 30 min walk because he couldn't wait at the school and had meetings to get ready for with all other Uber's only like 18 mins away and they may have cancelled on him making him late so he walked. I shared this on the Ballito page and in Dec in the area there were so many of the same accounts with uber and often involving teenagers that were left stranded. The uber drivers should be charged the 20 rand penalty for cancelling as we do. This has been shocking and would like to know how uber is handling this because in my post it's been like this even for people residing in JHB. I wrote to them like many others mentioned on my Facebook posts and had the same automated response. They are not holding their drivers accountable. Its is unsafe, unpredictable and no way a service when you are being sworn at and being held at random because we HAVE TO PAY R20 TO CANCEL. many have said they think these guys cancel the rides in the hope they will get a cancellation and therefore get a fee paid to them anyway.
