Have your Vehicle tested by a professional before you buy from anyone!!
I purchased a Hyundai Terra-can form RS Motors in December 2016, On first sight of vehicle, it looked like a stunning vehicle with Continental tires. I am under the impression that the purchase was a planned forced purchase , as, the day I went to view the vehicle, I was told that there was another potential buyer, and I was told that he was there and wanted the vehicle as much as I did. On collection of the vehicle the tires had been changed, but did not notice this immediately, additionally, the spare wheel and the kit to change the wheel was missing , I was told that they had a break in and these were ******. Nevertheless I bought the vehicle. ( like a Dumas )
Not knowing how this vehicle should perform, my first impression was that it drove pity well. within 10 days I realized that there were issues with this vehicle. 1: Tyre's had been switched, 2: Major smoking started to appear , 3: Lack of power , eg no acceleration on Highway , no pull off power. Sent the vehicle back to RS Motor's refereed repair center called Lammers in Pretoria West Were the vehicle was supposedly repaired , more than 7 times over a period of 1 year. I had the opportunity to drive this vehicle for less than 5 month , meaning that the vehicle was in for repairs plus minus 7 months. I think the thing that grated me the most is that in all the time that the vehicle spent in the workshop , not one person called me to inform me of the progress or issues they were experiencing. I also took the vehicle to Hyundai Sand ton for a diagnostic and quote for repair, the quote relieved that it needed R65000 of work. I also let a technician drive the vehicle and he confirmed that the vehicle was in bad shape. Issues. that were supposedly repaired , excessive smoking , no power issues , not starting issues , burst water pipes. There after I refused to take my vehicle back to Lammers or RS Motors. This vehicle was sold to me under false pretenses, Eg when I bought the vehicle I was told that the engine was replaced, but they could not provide me with proof.
December 2017 I have subsequently had the following issues with the vehicle. 1: No ***ling present , purchased one and had it installed 2: 7 x a burst water pipe , each time a different pipe, each time had to have vehicle towed to repair center. 3: complete lack of power since purchase date. 4: Cracked exhaust manifold , replaced skimmed and fitted 5: Repaired loss of pressure in airflow pipes , gaskets and seals replaced 6: tested Injectors , found all faulty , repaired and reinstalled, smoking issue dissipated, power was a little bit better. 7: Diesel pump refurbished
May 2018 Vehicle has been operating with minimal performance for the last 6 months. 1: 2x burst water pipe , each time vehicle was towed to repair center, 2: Vehicle booked in for full checkup, 3: Turbo found to be faulty, reconditioned and refitted 4: Inter cooler , leaking , replaced and fitted 5: Head gasket tested found faulty , skimmed and cleaned and pressure tested , installed 6: Thermostat tested faulty , replaced 7: Injector harness checked and found faulty (harness was from a Saab) purchased new harness and installed. 8: Alternator , is tested but has a fault, bearing very noisy.
These are most of the issues I encountered , there were other issues as well. Up to date since i bought the vehicle in December 2016 till to today , I have driven this vehicle for only 11 months, and I have spent R50-000-00 repairing the vehicle. This is unacceptable, I have no words to express the regret I have in dealing with RS Motors and their fellow counterparts, I was duped, and there is nothing I can do about it.
It just goes to show you that there is a serious lack of professionalism and service as well as people out there that do not really care if they sell you a piece of junk or not, they are just interested in their back pocket.
