Company has become Extremely Unprofessional

I have had Rosstone do my taxes for almost 20 years (previously they operated as Highveld).

Recently they have become extremely poor to the point where it will potentially cost me large penalties from SARS.

I currently live in the US. I submitted my tax return for 2016 in May 2017 (due to various reasons - but everything was under control). I submitted all requested documents on request and paid my Invoice from Rosstone immediately as requested. In September of 2017 I realized I have not heard back from Rosstone. I emailed the “tax technician” as they are refereed to at Rosstone. But he never responded (Riaan Klaaste). I subsequently email a colleague of his that had done my taxes on previous occasions. She responded immediately but he only responded after a couple of days - just to inform me that he “forgot” to notify me, but I owe SARS money (as specified in an atttached document). I was astonished to find out that I owed SARS R67000 where I expected to not pay SARS any monies. The reasons he gave me for having to pay the money (according to SARS) I didn’t agree with, but the bottom line is that he “forgot” to provide me the instruction to pay SARS R67000 ....that is utterly unprofessional.

I subsequently contacted his supervisor (Ivete) (Sept 19th) to complain about the service that I received and also requested that they (Rosstone) lodge an appeal to SARS. She did not respond to my email.

I subsequently phoned her (Sept 21) , but she was not available. I left her a message, requesting her to respond to my email.

I still have not heard from her (Sept 25) and I don’t have a clue if an appeal have been lodged with SARS.

One does not expect this kind of service from a company that does one’s taxes. I paid my fees on time and have been a loyal customer for almost 20 years. I do not think anyone deserves this kind of service.

I will definitely take my business elsewhere, but in the mean time I need to figure out how to lodge an appeal.

Stay away from using this company.

Dirk
