Smelling smoked chicken

I bought Roots smoked chicken last Friday and found that it was off,I was unable to take it back till the next Tuesday,we lost the receipt but had evidence from my phone that I bought from them,they didn’t even bother to check their chicken to verify that it was off .I was told they won’t help me because I don’t have the receipt and I took days
