Roots Alex Mall sold me rotten meet
I am not happy with the quality of the meat I bought at Roots, Alex Mall.
On Monday, 02 January, 2022, I bought beef brisket for R300 at Alex Mall. The same day we cooked some, the smell was off as well as the test. We thought maybe it was just the two pieces that we cooked. Yesterday, on Wednesday we cooked it again and we experienced the same thing, everything about the meat was off. And when I bought the meat, the color was not the one that I am used to to, it looked pale, but I trusted them as we have been buying from them for the past 5yrs.
Today, as I was buying some few items at the mall, I then decided to go an see the manager at Roots to explain what we have experienced. When I got to the butchery, I was met with a stinking attitude just like the smell of the meat I have bought, from the lady who introduced herself as the manager, Ane Stols. I explained what we have experienced with their meat. She could not even acknowledge my complaint, instead she told me that if I do not have a till slip, she cannot assist me. I told her that I used my bank card to purchase and I can give them the time of the transaction so that they can do a reprint of the till slip. Ane did not want to listen to me, she told me that I want to make her life difficult by asking her to do a reprint. Mind you, I was not there to return the meat and the least she could have done was to acknowledge the fault on their side. She went further to ask why am I the only customer to come and complain about the meat, whereas no one who bought meat on Monday came forward to lay a complaint. At some point I even asked her why is she raising her voice.
As a customer, I have a right to receive value for my money. And I did not get value for my money from the product I purchased on Monday. Every shop has all the transactions on their system and it is possible to do a reprint, provided the customer give you the time of the transaction. Ane accused me of making her life difficult, what about my well-being and that of my family if we are sold meat that is not fresh.
At the point when we were having this discussion, I did not know her name. I ask for her name, she wrote the name on a piece of paper that had contacts on it and said to me that I can even call the number to lay a complaint if I wish to.
It can be that when as customers we raise our dissatisfaction with your products, your manager meet us with a hostile attitude. That must me addressed.
