Root's Butchery Sells Expired Goods

I stopped at Roots *****ery in Mamelodi next to Tshamaya Road to buy a pack of sweets and Bonita 500ml naartjie-flavoured water, only to realise that the best before the date of the flavoured bottled water had expired by a few weeks. I turned and reported this, and they asked me to get another bottle. When I got there, all the naartjie-flavoured water in their fridge had expired except for a litchi flavour, which was good till 7 May 2025.

What troubled me more was their apparent brushed over the fact that they are selling expired goods for black people in Mamelodi. It was as if quality control was an "illusion". I didn't even get an apology or indication that this would be corrected going forward.

I hope the Department of Health and Metro Police will look closely into Root's Butchery in the townships.
