Ronnies sold me a damaged water bottle, they insisted they fit the warranty exchange bottle themselves, the car overheated 300km after Ronnies worked on my car. Claim, they never road-tested the vehicle.

I bought a pressurised water bottler over the counter from the Ronnies Motors Parts Department. This part was ordered on mv behalf and couriered to Ronnies Motors East London. I collected the part and it was fitted at Tulicom Service Centre. After travelling out of East London on a few occassions. I noticed that the water bottle I had purchased from Ronnies Motors had a hairline crack which seemingly expanded and leaked coolant after the vehicle performed at full operating temperature for a period of time. This crack was not visible to the naked eye due to its nature. I brought this to the attention of Ronnies and they said they would order a warranty exchange bottle. Once the new warranty pressurised bottle arrived, I was told that Ronnies had to fit the exchange bottle themselves and that I had to brinq the vehicle to Ronnies Motors as per their warranty procedures stipulate. After initially being unable to detect a leak, I guided their workshop foreman as to where the crack was and Ronnies changed the bottle under warranty and I was called to collect my vehicle 2 days later. PS: The vehicle had a 12km difference in mileage. Within 300KM after Ronnies changed the bottle. I noticed my vehicle temperature gauge was unusually passing the halfway mark and overheating. I immediately notified the Ronnies Service advisor and he advised I rebook the vehicle. The initially suspected that it was not vacuum bled correctly but later suspected a blown cylinder head but claim that they cannot be held accountable although the was almost definitely caused by either the damaged bottle that they sold to me, or something not done correctly during the fitment of the warranty bottle. On his report, the workshop foreman said that he did not test drive rhe vehicle after he worked on it, this meaning that the mileage accumulated Ronnies continued to drive the vehicle for 12km whilst having been informed that the water bottle has a leak.

Ronnies advised that I submit a complaint to Chrysler SA in order fir them to be mandated by Chysler to do the repair. Their reaponse to Chrysler was that it was enough that they had exchanged the bottle and I should forward my complaint to the Motor industry ombudsman of SA. This case has been pending for 4 months. Ronnies has had my car from August 2017, 7 months.
