Distguisted at preparation of food

This has been on my mind for a few weeks now and to tell you the truth I get sick to my stomach just thinking about it. A few weeks ago I went to our local Romans and ordered my usual chicken salad. While waiting I actually saw the guy who was making the salad and he had no gloves on or protection on his hands. He was digging into the big container of lettuce using his bare hands making my salad, he was also touching his face (I presume from the heat at the back) I actually felt sick. After asking the cashier if that was my salad, I asked why he isnt wearing gloves, and the answer was, they never use gloves when prepping. I was sick. What happened if he had sores on his hands. Just the thought of it makes me very unhappy. Is the hygiene in this country taken a dive. I am not a hygiene freak but I expect when people are working with food that the necessary precautions are taken. Lets just say I dont order salads from Romans anymore.
