Poor quality furniture from Rochecter

In late 2015 we bought couches from Rochester on the recommendation of the store manager. The couches looked like leather couches but was according to him more durable and longer lasting than the leather couches we were considering . I still remember it was near month end and this sale would have made his store achieve the monthly target he said. These couches was supposedly guaranteed - and it was imp**** to us that it would last us a good couple of years . He even demonstrated the durability of the couch and loungers by s****ing our car key over the material claiming that the material will out last most things - guess what it could not even out last the normal usage of a chair. So +- R17 K later the material started flaking and it looks like we had the chairs for a life time. Rochester is unwilling to replace these chairs claiming the guarantee has expired on it .

We logged a product complaint RC ALP ********** 8-266 in March 18 with the JD Service Centre - they took the complaint advised that they will have someone contact me - however the first time they came back and said that they can do nothing it is our problem - the guarantee expired - I indicated that was not good enough we spend a huge amount on this furniture not for it to just last 36 months. They were going to get the Northgate manager to phone me as it was not their problem I'm still waiting for him to phone me .

Every time I phone the JD Service Centre just said it is not their problem. It is so frustrating the agent just says we can do nothing not a JD Service Centre problem.

NO store can expect you to spend a small fortune on furniture just to have it look all shabby 36 months later and expect you to just accept it. .

I also requested a copy of the invoice which the JD Service Centre is unwilling to supply me .

My expectation is that these couches is replaced or re- upholstered with a better quality material than what it currently covered with.
