Damaged goods and supplier blames customer

On the 2nd September 2015 bought a plasma unit cash for R7 995.00 and collected the item on the 4th September 2015. On arrival at home we started unwrapping the unit, which was wrapped with bubble wrap on top. Then we noticed a scratch and hole on top of the unit, we took a picture and removed the green wrap. The unit was scratched and it was sealed in such a way that only after unwrapping one can notice the damage. I immediately contacted the sales person answer she told me to bring the unit back. She later called for pictures showing the damage. We delivered the unit back on the 12th September 2015. The sales person did not call to inform us of what is the next process until I called her on 22nd September 2015. I asked her what is happening and she told me that they have a lot of items to fix she will let me know. I was shocked to her that they are going to fix instead of exchange. I told her that I need a new unit then she told me we damaged the unit. How does one damage a unit on top and check it if it is wrapped? The store failed to produce a POD signed by the person who collected the unit. I was told to wait until Friday 25th Sep 15 if they will exchange or refund.
