PLEASE DONT BOOK A TRIP WITH THESE PEOPLE

We booked a holiday with Roadtrippers Travel to Zanzibar for a 7-day trip (22 November 2022 – 29 November 2022). On 20 September 2022 they informed us that their supplier had just informed them that they had to reduce their departures from twice a week to one fight a week. Further to this they advised to a price increase of R2500 per person additional. In the mail they had advised that Africa Stay (their flight suppliers) had just informed them of these changes but in the formal letter from the suppliers it was apparent that they had this information from the 25 August 2022, clearly not as sudden as they let on in the mail. The mail went on to give us alternative options to try resolve the matter, but unfortunately none of these alternatives worked for our schedules or budgets. We then informed the Operational Manager Valerie Naicker that we could no longer go ahead with the trip and asked for a Refund as per their refund policy, this is when she informed us that the cancellation fee would be R5000 per person x 3 =R15 00 (for the group). We then called to get clarity as their cancellation policy had clearly stated that only R2000 would be deducted from our money should we cancel before flights were issued and the full flight charge thereafter. It was clear to us no flights had been secured as we hadn’t received our booked tickets as per their Policy stated in our invoices. We have tried to be in talks with Valerie Naicker to try resolve the issue amicably, but with no success. On The 22 September 2022 we received an Email from a person called Unalia Moodley advising that they are Roadtrippers Travel/ Valerie Naicker lawyer, and they would be handling the matter further.

We regret that you are aggrieved and feel hard done by, please do not despair we will again provide you with an explanation.
 
Global factors such as exchange rates, wars and airline liquidations affect the fluctuation of travel prices and dates of travel commonly change, with that inconvenience comes the price one must pay for these changes. Like everything in life, it is not fair and we at Road Trippers Travel do our utmost to keep these fluctuations minimal to you the travel guest, but we cannot absorb all these costs, which is not our burden, unfortunately.
 
We reiterate that the non-refundable deposit is R2000,00 per guest but if all the options provided are not accepted and a cancellation surmounting to a refund is chosen then usually 50% of the travel fee is charged yet, we decided in good faith to only charge a cancellation fee of R5000,00 per guest as we understand no parties are at fault and no one party should be penalized.
 
We trust you understand that any change is not taken lightly but options were provided, and you made your choice.

DEFAMATORY COMMENTS MADE AGAINST ROAD TRIPPERS TRAVEL

Was the new subject to an email from Roadtrippers Lawyer, referring to my above post on my personal experience with Roadtrippers. Time and time again we have tried to resolve the matter amicably but to no success. We have been informed that if we continue to discuss out experiences on public platforms we could be sued in the court of law for defamation.

This is yet another example of what we have gone through with them (Roadtrippers travel), they say they want to resolve this amicably but try to intimidate us with legal action.
