What a horrible and frustrating experience. ‘Confusing placement of products, an inflexible return policy, dismissive and unhelpful staff, a lack of knowledge about the store’s own products, and generally unprofessional behaviour.’ We went into the store looking for stationery and were immediately met with products that appeared to be displaced and placed in completely different areas. When we went to purchase the items, the price was significantly higher than we had expected. I acknowledge that we should have double-checked the price before purchasing, so that part is ultimately our responsibility. However, we realized the mistake immediately and attempted to return the product before even leaving the store. Unfortunately, we were told that the product could not be returned. The manager was also rude and dismissive to our problem. He did not seem actually willing to solve or help with our problem. We had initially assumed the price was much lower because of where the item had been placed, only to discover that products were scattered around the store and not necessarily located with their corresponding prices. While I understand that stores have return policies, I find this particular policy incredibly unreasonable and customer-unfriendly, especially given that we had not even left the premises and had immediately brought the issue to the staff’s attention. Secondly, the customer service was extremely disappointing. We spent approximately an hour looking around the store and asked the two ladies working at the front for assistance. Instead of being helpful, they were dismissive and rude. They seemed unwilling to even get up and come over to assist us. When they eventually did, they were unable to tell us where their own products were located. At one point, I found the book I was looking for before the employees did. That is honestly unacceptable. How can customers be expected to receive assistance when the employees themselves do not appear to know where the products in their own store are located? Finally, the behaviour of the staff was extremely unprofessional. During our time in the store, the staff were repeatedly burping loudly in front of customers. I understand that this may sound like a minor complaint, but it was incredibly rude, uncomfortable, and disrespectful. Basic professionalism and consideration for customers should not be too much to expect from employees working in a customer-facing environment. Overall, this was an extremely unpleasant experience. Between the confusing placement of products, an inflexible return policy, dismissive and unhelpful staff, a lack of knowledge about the store’s own products, and generally unprofessional behaviour, I left feeling incredibly frustrated and disappointed. I genuinely hope management takes this feedback seriously. Customers should not have to deal with this level of poor service and unprofessionalism.
