Arrogant automotive parts supplier with ****** undertones
This supplier is by far the worst in customer and after sales service with arrogant personnel. I don’t that I have ever dealt with people as rude and arrogant as this shop is They sold yet another ************ service provider, a mechanic who is in the same category with Ravco, that I used to replace my vehicle’s shock absorbers. I don’t even understand how they installed wrong parts but they do not want to own up to it and yet they were given the vehicle’s VIN number. The Ravco shop manager doesn’t know how to talk to customers nor the meaning of the word after sales service and neither does his staff have respect for customers for that matter.
The shop is hiding behind their returns policy but to start with it is their fault that wrong parts were supp**** because they had the correct VIN number. Anyhow the story goes thus: I bought shock absorbers from them through the aforementioned ************ mechanic of which these were meant to be parts for a Volvo S40 but they sold me parts for an S60. The irony is that even though they were provided with my car’s VIN number but they refuse to take responsibility in that they sold me the wrong parts twice with the second time when I was involved in buying directly from them and not through a third party. I made contact with the product manufacturer, namely KYB who are the best manufacturers ever in terms of after sales service with a legendary customer service. They (KYB) certainly know how to treat customer - courteous, respectful and helpful to go the extra mile even I didn’t buy directly from the manufacturer but it was through a distributor who had in turn supp**** Ravco.
The Area Manager of KYB, namely Robert went the extra mile of negotiating with their distributor client, namely Diesel Electric who had in turn supp**** Ravco and agreed to pass a credit which meant that I would return the parts. I returned both front shock absorbers for the left and the right hand side. After dilly dallying Ravco, eventually refunded me for the left hand side shock absorbers R1450 and when they had to refund the right hand side which was R1550, they then came up with stories. I went away and they called whilst I was offline and threatened to destroy my right hand side shock absorber if I don’t collect and changed the story that their Diesel Electric had destroyed. This shop (Ravco) is very ************ with racial undertones during the exchanges when this shop’s manager referred to me as “you people are all *******” which racially suggested that, “you Black people are all *******”. In a nutshell they are giving me lame excuses of why they won’t refund me without course. If anyone buys from Ravco, just know that you do so at your own peril and you will either get the wrong product or no money back if it is the wrong product supp****
Since I took a video of it, when I dropped off the shock absorber at their counter, I will lodge a complaint with the National Consumer Commission to recoup my R1550 because they had no right to destroy my shock absorber when the manufacturer had agreed to pass a credit for that whole amount.

A third party mechanic approached us requesting front shock absorbers for a particular vehicle. After requesting a vin number from the mechanic and doing our due research on the vehicle, our sales advisor informed the mechanic that there’s a few different types of shocks listed under this particular vehicle and more information would be required.(Any person with experience in aftermarket parts would agree that this scenario is possible even with the best efforts to try and avoid it)
It was suggested to the mechanic to first strip the part before purchasing it to avoid disappointment, he insisted that the information that he was supplying us with regards to the vehicle specs, which would affect the type of shocks needed, was correct even though he did not work on the vehicle before. Shock absorbers relating to the information given to us by this third party mechanic were then ordered.
Upon payment and collection of the shocks, another mechanic came to do the payment and collection. We were then informed that this mechanic was the primary mechanic but was subcontracting the job to the initial mechanic. The parts were thus supp****.
Ravco Auto Parts return policy states that a client has the right to return parts that are incorrectly supp**** within 7 working days from the date of purchase as long as the part is not fitted. This is clearly indicated on the invoice and is in place to help with a part that is supp**** incorrectly. (Again this is part of the aftermarket industry, and is sometimes not in our control)
After two weeks, the third third party mechanic approached us saying that one of the two shocks is wrong and demanded a refund. We informed him that it is not possible for one shock to be correct and the other side incorrect as they work in pairs. We also informed the third party mechanic that even though the time period to return the product was over, if they brought in the sample and showed us how one side is correct and fitted while the other incorrect, we would try to help. We also informed the mechanic again that it did not make sense for one side to be fitted and the other side not supp**** correctly. The third party mechanic insisted that he wanted a cash refund for one shock.
This situation seemed suspicious to us so we contacted the primary mechanic who paid for the shocks and informed her about the situation. She told us that she was under the impression that both shocks were replaced by the third party mechanic as this was what he had told her. We were then informed not to refund him the cash as he was trying to **** the client and she would sort it out. We did not hear anything from the primary mechanic, the third party mechanic or the customer for the next two months.
After about two months, the customer contacted us directly for the first time, informing us that they wanted a refund for the shock. We informed the customer about the entire situation and regretfully told him that this was way beyond the period that the manufacturer of the shock would allow us to return the shocks. This was also way past our return policy period and we would not be able to help him.
The client went on to contact the manufacturer of the shock directly and after some negotiations with us we agreed to help the customer out but we left it to the manufacturer to supply the “correct part”.The customer than tried to return shocks that were not the initial ones supp**** and tried to trick us and the manufacturer into refunding him for shocks that weren’t even supp**** by us, we are not sure where he got these shocks from. We explained to the customer that the shock he sent back was not the correct one. This went on for a further two weeks.
Eventually The supplier than sent us shocks to supply the customer. After taking back the initial shocks and supplying the customer the ones sent by the manufacturer, the client tried to return the new shocks again. We informed the customer that this was not part of the deal and we could not refund him again for the new shocks as these were supp**** by the manufacturer and not by us. We did not hear from the customer again for a whole month.
During this time these shocks were being sent back and forth at our suppliers cost and they were becoming extremely irritated by the customer for trying to trick them into refunding him for shocks that weren’t even the same make as the ones they supp****. We informed the client multiple times that the supplier will not hold onto incorrect shocks that he’s sending back and ones that he sent back that were not part of the deal. They informed us that if the customer does not collect the shocks within a week, they will dispose of the shocks as it wasn’t part of the deal to hold onto items that the customer kept sending back and forth. The customer did not get back to us for a whole month after this and the shocks were then disposed of.
We feel that it is unfair for the customer to blame us for his misfortune as he was the one who contracted the work to ************* mechanics that tried to **** him. If it was not for us informing him that they did not fit one of the shocks, the customer would never have known. We then tried everything in our capacity to help him out but it was clear that he was trying to make up his loss with the ************* mechanic from us, this was indicated by him trying to return shocks that weren’t even bought from us just to get a refund from us. Again we are sorry that you landed up in this situation, but we will not take responsibility for your misfortune and trusting of unqualified, unregistered mechanics.
