Sparking connections, arrogant, short-fused, more concerned about money than fixing the issue at hand.

Richard did the Certificate of Compliance for the house we are living in now. Upon moving in we noticed a section of wall sockets/plugs were not working, as well as a light switch jamming, and called RKT Electrical, Richard's company, in an attempt to get this sorted out. Richard sent an associate to tend to the issues, who could not complete his work due to missing parts that Richard would get back to us on. The wall sockets' issue was a loose neutral wire, according to the associate, and it was presumed to be fixed after he left. Subsequently the same issue with the wall sockets occurred again upon first use, but now the sockets' switch on the distribution board sparks as well - which was not the case before RKT did work. We received an invoice from Richard and no other communication regarding the missing part for the jamming light switch. Richard claims that he fixed our extractor fan, which we did report as a small extra side issue, but when my partner reconnected the fan himself in order to demonstrate the issue, the fan was indeed working again.

Upon refusal to pay the invoice as none of the outstanding issues have been resolved yet, Richard insisted that the invoice be paid before he will fix the problems. When trying to sort the issue out telephonically, Richard was hostile from the onset, saying "you obviously don't know how this works...you don't know the definition of compliance...calm your '****'". The latter being suprising coming from a professional. Richard further claimed that he came out to our house within an hour of us calling - which is patently not true as he sent an associate. And once that statement was challenged, Richard hung up the call.

We were open to working with Richard, and open to him fixing the issues that have come up since his company did work and he signed off on the compliance certificate. We approached him in a reasonable manner to resolve the matter, but were met with the immature response from Richard, and left with a sparking distribution board after work done by his company.

All I can say is stay away from this company and if your Certificate of Compliance has Richard's name on it, be very wary. We will be following this up with the relevant authorities as no one deserves this treatment from a electrical service provider and we should all be confident that compliance certificates are true reflections of the in-home conditions.
