Terrible Mothers Day Experience

Tonight at 6:45pm, I had braved the bad weather with my wife and 2 sons to have supper at RJs Gateway. Upon arrival we were seated and had placed our drinks order (order number 136, table 3, staff Thabani).

We then placed our order and the first meal I had requested for my wife as it was mothers day and she wanted the R99 lamb bunny chow. I was told by the waitor that he is uncertain if there is white bread and if I could have brown bread instead of white. I then asked him to be certain and check, he came back to me and advised that they did not have any bread. I then explained to him that being mothers day and that the previous day I had made reservations with Fazil. My reason for coming to RJs was because my wife wanted the lamb bunny and that I was not willing to spend +-R500 on dinner for something we did not want to eat. With a very uncertain look on his face, he advised he would check to see if there was any bread available at which time I had also requested to see the manager.

A few minutes later another waitor approaches me, advising the manager Achmed is busy, and that he was there to assist me. After explaining to him exactly what I had told the first waiter. With a very uncertain look on his face as well, he advised he would check to see if there was any bread available at which time I AGAIN had also requested to see the manager.

After much waiting, approximately 25 minutes, I had toldthe waitress at another table that I would like to see the manager and she asked me how she could be of assistance. I then told her that I was going to post on face book the terrible service, at which time she pleaded with me not to, and within 5 minutes Achmed was at my tabel.

With no remorse and full of excuses he had advised me that he was absolutely busy and therefore took 30 minutes to attend to me, it was quite clear the restaurant was not that busy. He then told me that the waiters usually handle these problems, therefore my query was being attended to by other waiters, I do not see the point in having a manager when the waiters are doing the job of management.

Tired of his excuses and arrogance (please see your CCTV camera footage), I paid my bill of R65 for the drinks and left.

I am absolutely disappointed that my wife had to be put through this terrible ordeal on mothers day. I find it difficult that management takes so long to attending to a complaint and gets other waiters to try and resolve. An effort could have been made for white bread to be purchased as Checkers and Spar closes at 8-9pm. And did any one here of paying for a R99 brown bread lamb curry bunny. For my inconvenience I should have been given the drinks no charge as we had only consumed half of the pitcher of passion fruit.
