Serious Concerns Regarding Rivonia PreSchool and its neglect towards children

Our experience with Rivonia Preschool has been deeply concerning, and we feel compelled to share it with other parents.

Since our son began attending, he has suffered multiple unexplained injuries, including bumps on his head and a recent sc****d forehead. He has also been frequently ill with vomiting, diarrhea, and flu-like symptoms, which have led to emergency visits on more than one occasion. These recurring health issues made it clear that something within the school environment was affecting him. Additionally, he has developed severe, recurring nappy rashes. Despite our concerns, requests for footage to understand these incidents have gone unanswered.

Hygiene practices appear to be severely lacking. Despite packing several nappies each day, our son would often return home with most of them unused, indicating that he was changed only once over an 8-hour day. When we raised these issues, Karen, the owner, responded defensively and dismissively, refusing to acknowledge any fault.

One day, our son came home with wrinkled, cold feet after spending what seemed to be an entire day in wet socks and shoes, with no attempt made to contact us for a change of clothes. Recently, our helper witnessed a teacher changing our son’s nappy directly on the lawn turf without a protective covering, which was both alarming and unsanitary.

The final straw came when, after several days of illness, our son had to be taken to the ER. We sent him back cautiously after nursing him back to health, packing five nappies and requesting extra care. Yet, he returned with four nappies still unused, a severe nappy rash, and cuts on his lip—without any notification from the school. Attempts to address this with Karen were met with silence, and only after my husband posted about it in the parent group did she respond by asking us to remove our child from the school and subsequently removed us from the group.

After this, we were contacted by other parents who shared similar experiences, from inadequate hygiene and frequent injuries to a poor diet of noodles being served daily and dismissive responses to their concerns. One parent mentioned that Karen even screamed at her, stating she “does not care.”

We hope our experience will serve as a caution to other parents considering Rivonia Preschool. The lack of basic care and accountability has been shocking, and we are filing a formal complaint to request an investigation into the school’s operations.
