Poor hospitality and unimpressive food. Disappointing dining experience - won't be back anytime soon.

Poor hospitality and unimpressive food. Visited Wednesday night 05/06 2019 - no security visible in the parking area. We asked to be shown around only to find most of the patrons crammed into two rooms. We opted to sit on the stoep area only to find out there was no heaters or warmth. We moved into one of the crammed rooms that had a few dying coals on the fireplace. Our waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu or any specials currently running. The menu looked tatty and was printed on plain brown paper - prices weren't bad but the descriptions lacked appetizing imagination. We placed our order - Vegetable platter and hake and calamari platter (side order of hot veg and Greek salad) only to have the waiter return telling us that there is no haloumi cheese and that we must order something else - WOW - haloumi was on about 4 of the dished we were interested in. We eventually decided to stick with the veg platter and get a few spring rolls extra. Food arrived on warmed plates (appreciated this) however everything was garnished with layers of lettuce that had now wilted and had turned soggy (returned some browned bits with the waiter). We sc****d the rest aside - we were already loosing interest in the food. We had ordered fried calamari and grilled hake - we received small blobs of batter (couldn't really make out if there was calamari in it and a fried hake crumbed fillet - the type you get from the frozen I&J boxes. Eish, we were starting to get annoyed with our waiter whom also forgot to bring tarter sauce. Our Greek salad had no olives or fetta cheese? We questioned the waiter whom apologetically informed us there was no fetta cheese as well- PHEW - key items for any restaurant. He returned from the kitchen with a few unpitted Kalamata olives on a side plate. The side veg arrived - butternut was warm but the creamed spinach was served cold?? Cats walked in and out the rooms - should check their health and safety standards. We decided not to return the food to the kitchen thinking that perhaps the useless cook would abuse the food before reserving it (obviously a lack of faith in the kitchen). Asked for a white Graca wine, only to be served Rose (white being out of stock - we were now getting used to the fact that what's on the menu will not arrive) The coals in the fireplace had now gone out - no one bothered to reignite it and no service manager was around. Went to the restroom - the paper dispenser was pulled apart and hanging open - looked damaged with no papers (generally unclean and un-sanitized area) made me wonder what the kitchen looked like. Finished our meal and paid the waiter. We greeted what could have been the manager who had his back to us facing a computer terminal as we were leaving - he barely bothered looking in our direction and mumbled something. On leaving the gate was three quarter closed (still no security in sight) we had to blow the hooter before our waiter sprinted across the parking area to let us out. This place needs to get their act together, train their waiters, order the right stock for the menu, have someone check the food before it goes out to the customers and have a service manager check on the comfort of his guests. Disappointing dining experience - won't be back anytime soon...……………...
