DISGRUNTLED SOFA CLIENT

On the 8th of Febuary 2017, I ordered a leather sofa from Riverwalk furnishers. The reference as per their website for the sofa was DS023. I was assured that the sofa would be manufactured to the exact specification as displayed in the picture on their website.

On the 16 March 2017 they sent me photos of the completed product, after which i expressed concern that the sofa was not the same as the one ordered. They said that they had done a comparrison between the picture on the website and the completed product and saw no difference. The weekend of the 25 March 2017 I travelled from Pietermaritburg (KZN) to Pretoria to collect the sofa.

After seeing the sofa it was very obivious that the sofa was not the same as the one that I ordered. Andre" the sales assistant in the store at the time agreed that the sofa was different from the picture on their website and informed us that the sofa could be altered, repaired to resemble the ordered product. At this point I informed the sales assistant that I was NOT willing to accept a product that had be altered and repaired, I wanted the DS023 Sofa as originally ordered.

On the 27 March I sent an email to Mazanne Botma from Riverwalk Furnisher stating that I was dissatisfied with the sofa they had manufactred and was not willing to have analtered sofa. I ask ed for the order to be cancelled and to refund my deposit of R7250.00 (paid on the 08/02/17).

On the 3 April 2017, Marzane emailed me stating that they had sent the pictures of the sofa through to their suppliers informing them that the sofa was not as per spec and that we had problems with the arm wrests of the sofa. Marzane then stated that the supplier ensured her that the design was as per the image that they had sent through and the sofa had been made as per website measurement. I responded to this email by sending Mazane the picture of the sofa DS023 on their website that i had ordered as well as the picture of the sofa they manufactured, which are nothing alike. I stated that I wanted my deposit refunded within 7 days.

On the 4 April 2017, Marzane wrote me stating that she would place the sofa manufactured on their floor and once it was sold they would refund my deposit less 25% handling fee, as according to her the sofa manufactured was the correct design. I informed Marzane on the 4 April 2017 that their terms were unacceptable and I would get my attorney to deal with the matter.

To date that have not responded to the attorney and I am still waiting for my refund.
